What's new at MyPopchecker.com?
Check out these new features!
- SSL enabled for security -- both via HTTPS, and backend communications with
your (or your ISP's) e-mail server for the ultimate in security.
- Rich Text Editing! When composing e-mails, be sure to check out the
new rich text editor, including much of what Outlook offers, even
spell check.
- RSS! Get your e-mail via a custom RSS feed. To use this feature,
be sure to enable RSS in the Account Settings -> User Prefs screen. Copy
the URL (including an encypted token) to your RSS aggregator. The token
includes authentication information, so you don't have to enter your username
and password if you use a third party service. Note: if you change your password,
a new token (and new URL) will be generated.

What is MyPopchecker.com?
MyPopchecker.com is a web-based e-mail client, accessible from any
computer with a web browser and internet connectivity. MyPopchecker.com was
created by a developer who, like you, needed to check e-mail while on road.
This application allows you to do that. MyPopchecker will allow you to see all
of your e-mail (at the same time) regardless of the number of mailboxes you
have. You can delete it, compose new messages, reply, or forward e-mail, much
like using Outlook or another e-mail client. The e-mail, unless deleted by you,
will remain on your server. When you get home, you can download the e-mail using
your regular e-mail program.

Why create an account?
Creating an account is necessary for a few reasons. For starters, your
account ties together all of your Pop3 accounts that you register. When you log
in at a later time, all of your settings are maintained. An account is also
useful at curbing potential abuse. Your information is not used or sold in any
way, and is used solely for your use when you log in.

What does it cost to use MyPopchecker?
At this time, nothing. So far, MyPopchecker has been around since late 2000
and has been free ever since. Only recently has this tool become public, so this may
or may not change in the future.

But, it must cost me something!
It really doesn't ... currently there are no ads, no subscription
fees, and absolutely no information is sold to anyone. As the service grows out
of beta, this may change.

How many Pop3 accounts can I add?
You can add as many as you'd like. It's not uncommon for people to
have 4 or more e-mail accounts setup. In addition, you can create as many
"master" MyPopchecker accounts, each containing any number of Pop3 e-mail
accounts.

What about security?
We use an industry standard form of encryption, SSL, that
protects all data between your computer and this server. However,
Pop3 -- the protocol used for most e-mail accounts -- is,
unfortunately, not a very secure protocol. E-Mail sent around the internet
is generally insecure and not encrypted. Bear this in mind when using
this (or any other) service. A few providers, such as gmail, require SSL
for communications from the server, and this is configurable when setting
up your mail settings.
Fortunately, new protocols are emerging to help
address this problem. As for your user account information, your account
information is stored encrypted in a secure database, and your e-mail is never retained on
this server.

How come there are no folders to store e-mail?
Folders may be added in the future, but this isn't on the plate right now.
MyPopchecker is designed to supplement your main e-mail client, allowing you to check
your e-mail while at work, on the road, or any other time. Because MyPopchecker doesn't
store any e-mail, folders aren't really necessary.
